take out the battery, charge it, let it sit over night and test the charge. If it dropped, you're lucky. That means the battery needs to be replaced. If the battery stays charged, then your charging system may be failing or possibly a short.

Age and calcification due to rapid or slow drain.You can try to get rid of calcification by giving your battery a very high ampere charging to break it loose from the lead.But I would just get a new battery.

Check the wiring on the right side iunder the side cover. My Nighthawk had that same problem.

it could have a bad cell in it,,or there may be something actually draining it of its juice,,i had a 85 night hawk that did it,,and i found a loose connection ,,on the ground wire,,at the frame,,it would charge,,but not good enough to stay charged,maybe this will help you.

You have to change your battery,it's dead,that is the reason for it's constant dying.
You probably left your battery in your bike over the winter.

If it's old, AGE.
If it's new and charged, bad voltage regulator/diode pack.
