Who are you "stealing" from? These celebrities earn millions of dollars. I think they are still doing pretty well. I'm not going to cry a river for a millionaire with a couple mansions, tons of designer clothes, several cars, and a life of luxury when all I'm getting out of the deal is a few songs.
Average people do not do as well as these singers, and we can't spend $20-25 dollars a pop for every CD we want to buy of which we normally listen to only two or three songs.
Yeah, I'd be pissed if Britney Spears Federline came to my house and stole my measily television when she's got a movie style home theatre in her own mansion.
Stealing is stupid. It's a crime, a low one. However people are just sharing files, just like when you record a movie off of the television.
It's not the same thing, and I won't develop a conscience until the Federlines move into a trailer park.

Well, I paid for my downloading software for over a year so it was basically like paying for CD's. But now I don't pay for it b/c we're poor and we don't have the money to pay 10-20 dollars for one cd that I probably won't listen to but a few times with only a good song or two I actually want to listen to. And even if I did want a cd that I would listen to a million times and loved every single song on it, I still wouldn't buy it and just download it b/c it's cheap and I can afford it. I think I'd rather pay bills and actually get to listen to some decent music I like then the pay bills and not have enough left over to buy a cd b/c yes, I'm THAT broke! I know it's "stealing" and the artist is losing money, but don't they already have millions of dollars anyway? My one self isn't going to break their bank!

It's not stealing!
Contrary to what all the business people have been saying about "intellectual" property, it's not property per se- it's not a tangible thing. Making copies doesn't take the original item away from the owner. It does lower the amount of money they might see, but it does not directly take money out of their hands, nor does it deprive the holder of the so-called property.
Stealing is the taking of something in a manner that directly deprives someone of the thing taken. There's legal terms for this- theft and larceny come immediately to mind.
Infringement is not stealing in any legal sense of the concept- you can apply less than common dictionary definitions for the term or moral arguments to the mix, but you'd still be wrong because there IS a distinction for the whole thing all the same.

human beings acquire albums for loose, because of the fact they are able to. i think of many human beings acquire albums because of the fact they do no longer prefer to pay for a whole album in the event that they simply like possibly some songs out of a dozen or greater tracks. As for paying for community artists, and downloading international acts- i will not be able to confirm why they had try this, except they think of they're plenty greater probable to get caught by applying a community act, as destructive to an act on the different area of the international! that is too undesirable that persons will not be able to confirm that downloading loose song is virtually as good as stealing. It 's such as you going to artwork, on an universal basis, and not getting your finished pay! How long might you keep working? back while dinosaurs roamed the earth- while i substitute right into a young person- there wasn't the technologies to acquire songs. If communities had to sell albums, each and all of the tracks had to be good ( think of Beatles), or the albums does no longer sell . possibly a number of the communities at present could artwork a sprint greater durable, and convey greater perfect song to fill a CD, extremely of purely some good tracks, and greater often than not no longer so good. i think of human beings could be prepared to pay for high quality, extremely of quantity!

This debate is old. Music companies make money from merchandising and concerts very little of it comes from the actual song play. A song that is played on the radio is paid for by the sponsors and on a "Free" site by the sponsors who advertise in all those boxes around the search lists. Technically it's not free anymore and they know your gonna download it. Did you notice how many free downloads you get on Big Mac boxes, Coke cans, Pizza boxes, and toothpaste boxes lately? Big business is playing the game their not stupid. We're caught in their trap still.

well a lot of people dont have a conscience or think "at least im actually listening to their music"...no its not right but if the artist is really that good then the artist wont have to even worry about the thieves....since there is really no way to punish all the people who download free then nothing will ever stop this rise of downloading....that is a shame....my motto"do unto others as u wish them to do unto you"...so i completely agree with you
