It's a tight end FORMATION (not information). To begin a play,
there are 7 players on the line of scrimmage (the imaginary line across the width of the field that the ball is on) and 4 in the backfield.

On the line of scrimmage, the players on each end were traditionally called ends (now usually referred to as wide receivers). If both ends are a distance from the other 5 linemen, they are sometimes referred to as "split ends" or wide receivers. If one of the ends is wide and the other is not, the one that is not, is referred to as a tight end - and the team is said to be in a "TIGHT END FORMATION". If both ends are close to the other 5 linemen, this is often referred to as a "DOUBLE TIGHT END FORMATION". Hope this helps.

A formation that has a tight end instead of a wide end.

A tight end usually lines up about three feet away from the tackle. A wide end lines up about 15 yards away from the tackle.
