I do not think there is a "normal". I wear briefs all the time or just "go commando". I dislike boxers because they bunch up. Having said that it might be nice to know that there is research to suggest that briefs cause a decrease in perm production, but if you are a young man, that is probably less of a concern than just getting laid.
