Psychology classes are not difficult and you don't need to prep for intro psych classes during the summer. As for class selection, your school will have lower division requirements and it will tell you which psych classes you need to finish to continue with your major.

If you are majoring in psych, it will depend on your school's curriculum. Chances are, you'll need to take some statistics courses after you finish your Intro Psych class. Then it's on to Research Methods (which involves designing experiments, ethics, and writing proposals) and Experimental Psych (conducting experiments and analyzing your data). Other required courses will be Sensation/Perception, Abnormal Psych, Physiological Psych, and Cognitive Psych.

With the electives, you will have a lot of freedom. Choose from Social Psych, Learning/Motivation, Industrial/Organizational Psych, Human Factors Psych, Child Psychology, and everyone's favorite, Human Sexual Behavior.

Besides the intro course (which is pretty simple), psychology is not as easy as everyone makes it out to be. It involves A LOT of reading, in-depth research, and analyses. The sooner you find an area of focus that appeals to you, the better off you'll be. Then, you can select the electives that suit you best, and have an idea of what you'd like your thesis to be about. It's an interesting and fun journey though, don't worry about that. Best of luck!

They are usually pretty easy. Most of the Psychology 101, 102, 103 courses are very basic and are often the prerequisites for any other psych classes. However, depending on the college, they do tend to be very large lecture classes. In my 101 we had over 100 students in the class. Don't let this scare you though. There are always plenty of opportunities for student/professor interaction. Just make sure to get the book and do all of the assigned readings. If you do the homework and attend every class, you should do just fine in the class.

Best course I took was The Psychology of Minority Groups. The class starts off with a discussion about stereotypes.
