Sounds like a typical meteorite impact to me. Little space rocks hit Earth all the time, but they disintegrate in the atmosphere. Big ones are more rare, but not too uncommon - a few a year get noticed, I'd say. The big ones survive to the ground, and they can make a pretty big bang when they crash.
By the way, the blog's explanation of why a rock from space glows brightly when speeding through out atmosphere was completely wrong. The rock itself doesn't glow, the air in front of it get compressed by the force of the rock, and that makes the air get really really hot (it's not friction, a common misconception), so hot that it glows.

Probably a meteor or space junk. There is a lot of stuff orbiting in space left over from satellites and rocket boosters that NASA has to keep track of constantly so that the space shuttle and other things don't fly into each other. Objects are easily confused, because they enter at a high rate of speed and become white-hot. This is why space shuttles have ceramic tiling on the bottom to protect the shuttle from the extreme heat and is why shuttle Columbia from 2003 totally blew to pieces. The ceramic tiling had broken off due to some foam that hit it during take off

UFO if unidentified. There is a large possibility it was a missle, and a small possibility it was a meteor. There is no possibilty it was a alien ship. Most people exaggerate for attention. So there was probably small noise and a short small rumble.

If it was unidentified and flying it was a UFO.
Was it an alien? I doubt it.
