Only answer if you know, please. I heard this from someone who lives in Japan, and I would trust him to be accurate, but I figured that there must be at least someone else on Yahoo! who knows, right?

Yes, but NOT in respectable national and local newspapers you subscribe to and have delivered to your house every day. We have what we call "sports newspapers" and they only feature sports and entertainment news and gossips. They are like supermarket tabloids, and yes, they do have a porn section. They are not the kind you would read at a breakfast table. It's something you pick up to, say, read on a commuter train to kill time and throw away before you get home.

You don't even have to buy a newspaper to see porn in Japan.They're everywhere...even in a restaurant or a busy intersection in Tokyo.

Probably your friend could't read Japanese.

Do you believe whole US papers are as same as New York Daily News?

yeah they do, but it's sealed and you have to be of certain age to buy them.
