I was offered a job 88 miles west of Chicago in Rockford or 35 miles south of Boston in Bridgewater. Which City offers more for single people in their 30's?

I'm biased to Chicago, since that's where I lived for most of my life, moving to Boston only 3 yrs ago.

Each city offers a pretty vibrant culture for single 30somethings.

The drawback to working in Rockford is finding a place in between there and Chicago which doesn't make commuting a chore.

Bridgewater is not much better as far as nightlife goes, but at least you're closer to the Hub. Big problem: affordable housing. They don't call this place the most expensive place to live, next to the Bay Area.

Good luck wherever you end up.

Chicago, although Rockford is no Chicago. Don't know much about Rockford although I'm sure you'd like the midwest better than the east coast. ..oh yea Rockford is very close to the Wisconsin Dells which i'm sure you'd enjoy.

chicago!!

rockford is a great place to live and work... and it's an easy drive to chicago. there's plenty of night life, all sorts of fun events (think "taste of chicago"), and not to mention the best baseball team ever.. ;) it might be a little windy... but the lakes are beautiful and there's so much to do and the scenery and skyline are beautiful... i just hope you like life in the suburbs.

boston is just... cold. and dreary.

they are both great cities and they both have bad winters... chicago is a bit friendlier, but you are close to great travel spots in new england (the cape, NYC, vermont, etc.) If I had to choose right now... Boston... but, then again I'm partial to Clam chowda'
