I planted Mammoth Sunflowers about 2 months ago and they are about 4 1/2 foot tall. I live in Florida and from 12pm till 5 or 6pm the flowers hang down and sag. Is this normal? How much do you water them?

As long as they perk up again after 5 or 6, or are looking fine in the morning, no worries. They do turn their heads like a solar collector to get the amount of sun that they need, so in Florida they may be adjusting by decreasing the amount of sun exposure they get.
Water them deeply, and then only water when the top couple of inches of soil has dried.

They are extravagant users of water. Water thoroughly untilwater runs out of the bottom of the pot if thry are in pots. If planted in the garden water, water and water. If you think the water is draining away from the plants make a dam out of soil around them to contain the water. They are drooping to conserve water becauseit is very hot at that time of day. If they perk up after 6 p.m. they are just doing what comes naturally to them.
