I don't get it. Creationism is so wrong and innacurate, every time I hear about it I just want to fall on the ground and roll over with laughter. Ridiculous things like the Universe is 6000 years old or that humans lived along side dinossaurs are so preposterous. Do people who believe in creationism lack the capability of thinking logically?
Pretty much every major religion (Christians main denomination such as Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox as well as Muslims, Budhists and Jews) agree with evolution and that the universe is about 15 billion years old. Are evangelicals the only ones that are in the dark ages about this?

There is no evidence supporting creationism. However, like faith and belief in God, creationism is a "belief". That's why it's so difficult to change someone's mind if they are creationists. I believe the greater threat to the theory of evolution is the so-called "intelligent design". The reason it's even scarier than creationism is that ID is presented as if it were science. Science (testable and verifiable) must be kept distinct from beliefs (non-testable).

you do not might want to be proper. as long as your target audience in hardship-free words hears one fringe of the talk, information and common sense are inappropriate. some arguments are logical fallacies (Hitler believed in evolution). Others are inappropriate (A century in the past some homid fossil became out to be a hoax). Others are outright fake (No transitional fossils exist). that is commonly a case of willful lack of comprehend-how, there is not any favor to confirm the reality on the area of the target audience of those claims. I even might want to ask your self about some thing else you stated in spite of the undeniable fact that. You declare that contained in the united kingdom creationism is unparalleled. What about this survey that asserts contained in the united kingdom 1/2 the persons believe in creationism?

Because they have "champions" like Kent Hovind and Carl Baugh who use bad science and faulty logic to "prove" creationism. When people believe in religion to the point where everything must fit inside a nice little box, they will grasp on anything that sounds intelligent and fits, even though they actually have no evidence.
Edited, since the person below me brought up Lee, he is just as bad as Hovind and Baugh, and has no scientific credentials or specialty to make such claims.

I feel that you are asking the wrong question. The question is: Why are we here? ANother question could be: Where did the Mayans go? Or maybe: Where do we go when we leave this place? Do you think you just die and that's it? Like that ant you killed a few days ago? Think of yourself as a spiritual being embarking on a physical experience, and try not to drive yourself insane with debatable questions because everyone feels that they have an answer. Enjoy what's going on around you and try to find some peace in it. We have chairs. We're comfortable.

Faith does not require facts... only observations.

Think of it as a half finished scientific method. Scientists are shocked that these people have not finished the scientific method. However, for some people, half finished is all they need.

Oh, side note, I am a Christian and a Scientist (How is that for being confused). ;)

some people believe that this was gods second try....

the first try was a disaster because a t-rex ate jesus, so god killed the dinosaurs and put each one in a stone....

and then 60 million years later he decided to make a man and a woman (adam and lilith) but because lilith wanted to be on top, god kicked her out of the garden and made adam a second wife (eve)

(all this of course is strictly hear/say due to the fact that the bible is a bunch of hoo hoo and was written by some guy named ted!)

excuse me while i fall on the ground and roll over with laughter.

did you know that pigs can fly?

Read the book, "The Case For a Creator", by Lee Strobel. It is scientifically based and quite compelling.

This is a common question. I suppose you could start by understanding that scientist are making a large number of assumptions when they propose their theories. They tell long stories based on a bone fragment. Most of it is fiction, but they don't recognize it or admit it.

Scientists have not answered some very basic questions nor have they provided experimental evidence that their theories are correct. For instance, it should be a simple matter to create life given the abundance of amino acids around today. Or given todays technology, we should be able to evolve a lizard into a bird within a few generations.

The more you study the complexity of life, the more one has to wonder if it could really come about by chance. Look at the chemistry required to replicate DNA. Look at how many different types of cells there are in the body and how they know when to develop so you liver is always in the same place, your heart is formed correctly and each bone has its specific shape. How many of these processes have to work perfectly in order for plants and animals to survive? Do you see anything else in nature that grows in complexity without decay?

Lets look at population figures. Most life grows in number almost exponentially. Plants cover the earth, fish fill the sea. Humans are covering the Earth at a rapid rate. But if you extrapolate that growth curve backwards, people haven't been around all that long. Some will argue that disease kept the population in check, but that doesn't seem to have been the case for every other creature.

You would do well to question what "scientists" are telling you.

You are obviously biased. Good news. I am too. There is no real proof for evolution. There is only suggestive or circumstantial evidence. That is one way to believe something else. Another is to know how many ideas and theories make sense with the way the world works except with regard to life. Life does not follow those rules. Thermodynamics "proves" that life cannot exist. It works for everything else, so life won't work. The big bang theory "proves" the way the universe was created. Then we have to come from something other than GOD. You may not like it, but arguments for evolution are just as weak as you claim are arguments for creation by GOD. That is how creationism can still hold on. No proof. Things taken by faith...yours in science, others in something else.
