So is it really worth worrying about, global warming and fossil fuels running out etc.....???

I don't think that logic is true. Typically, as we learn about new environmental and/or scientific problems and start the search for solutions, we find many more undiscovered problems along the way. In the case of climate change, it is definitely still worth worrying about. New problems and new information are constantly being discovered, however, there is no one great final solution to these problems.

The way technology is today we will eventually find a solution to our problems. It has never stopped us before

Without worrying about something you cant make a solution for it because there is no desire to do so. Simple when you think about it.
