Think of any position you'd be able to get in a generic business sense, and then slant it to sports. That will give you an idea of what you'd be able to find.

Agents, athletic director, entrepreneur (if you can find a niche, this is huge), management, marketing, media/public relations, operations, recreation, sales.. etc.

A lot of people are under the impression that it's an easy course to get through college, and I suppose it could be. But I know that it's a competitive field and you need to work hard to be at the forefront of your class if you want to be successful upon graduation. The industry only wants the best. The most successful people I've seen with a background in sports management, have also followed up with an MBA (masters in business administration).

Sports management is a degree like film or art. It's a great major if you plan to go to grad school to further your knowledge in a related field. For instance, getting a BA in Film qualifies you for flipping burgers. It's a great major, but pretty pointless. But if you go to grad school and get an MBA, you would have all the knowledge needed to open a film production studio. So don't major in Sports Management if you don't plan on getting a higher degree. Like the othe rperson said, a law degree would be great. With the background not only in law but also in sports management, you'd have all the knowledge necessary to become the manager/lawyer for various athletes. Or you could get your MBA and that would qualify you to be a an athlete's manager. A degree in Sports Management is a stepping stone. Some majors allow you to go straight into the work field, while others are stepping stones, and with a further education that relates to your career goals, could lead to much success. So basically, if you major in Sports Management, make sure to go to grad school. If you don't plan to, find a different major.

No offense, but not much. That's what is known as a "crip" degree. Only place you will see one is in a college with a sports program. Basically it is a degree that will allow someone to slide though college real easy. Don't expect to get a job with it.
