In this day and age where the term "Evil" is bandied around by so many politicians and those in the media the relativist perspective seems so easily forgotten. While one man's Terrorist is another man's Freedom Fighter can we point at anything and say for certain that it is "Evil", after looking at it from the point of view of the person commiting the act? Do you believe in a universal evil, and if so, what defines it?

Its got to be the wanton, deliberate harming of sentient beings, a sort of act that has no other motive than to cause suffering as an end in itself, a human action however. I cant accept that animals are capable of doing evil acts.

i just read a book about evil people by a psychiatrist and she defined evil people as people without a conscience-- true evil in the world is anything that is negative, it does not matter what degree of evil it is, it is all and any kind of negativity.
so a person that commits an evil act but is bothered by his conscious, is not truly evil, he just did something evil--- but a person that commits an evil act and it does not bother him, or he fails to see why it was evil even after being punished for it, that is pure evil.
the universal evil is any and all thoughts or actions that are negative.

Evil is considered the opposite of good. But as you say what is good for one is evil to another. If we do not judge evil or god then think how much better our lives would be.

Evil is using your powers to cause damage to others, to cause chaos and anguish. some times evil can be stooping down so low that you hurt others just for your own purpose even if they are ridiculous excuses.

excellent ? it is everything other than justice.
a terrorist destroys things and ppl whilst a freedom fighter is desperately searching for justice.
ie, the terrorist believes he is right and indiscriminately kills, the freedom fighter is more weak perhaps less powerful, and knows they are right.

hye there my buddy...
Well in my opinion, evil is not poltergeist, ghost or something like that but evil is rather a word to show the bad thing, the unkind of human's conduct...So whatever that is bad and inhumanity can be called evil!
:)
