The fuel, regardless of brand or octane will start to degrade in 30 days. Most fuel can start to harm the motor in 60 days. Using fuel stabilizer when you fill up can extend that time to about 90 days.
If you have fuel that is past it's prime, the old lawn mower can use it. Octane boosters, sorry to say, will not bring old gas bact to life.

I say 20 days, I use my old fuel in my lawn mower, then again, I pick my lawn mower's out of the garbage. ALWAYS USE FRESH FUEL, i don't trust the stablizer (it prolly works for a while). don't be penny wise, and pound foolish, use fresh mix, add "carbon guard" (cheap insurance).

if you plan to let it sit a while go get some STABIL (fuel stabilizer) helps retain the octane so your fuel wont go flat. if it does go flat and you want to use it, just add the respective ammt. of octane booster to it. (get the cheep kind because it is all the same petrolium distalates) or just get fresh fuel...

Exactly what mercman said, but if you like your old lawn mower, don't use it in it. It will get to it to, in time. I think thats what he ment to say.
