OK, first I'm an old guy and have seen more than my share of women. That said I would like to tell you about a young lady at work. Although it has been over 10 years ago I can still remember the very first time I saw her. I forgot to breath! I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her skin, which was a pale soft white, was absolutely stunning.
Forget the tanning beds. They are in my opinion for the less fortunate women.

Pass on the sunbeds.
I remember one really beautiful pale young lady ,who set about getting a tan as soon as she got to the beach. apart from overdoing it and getting sunstroke, she lost that subtle perfection.
Her skin had been really like alabaster ,beautiful.
It probably depends on the person, but if you want a tan, I'd go for small doses of the real thing outdoors, or one of the more effective ,and subtle modern fake tans .

Please, never ever contemplate using a sunbed. I did this in my teens and deeply regret it now. Pale is beautiful and if you keep your skin protected all your life, it will still be beautiful years from now. Remember tanning = wrinkles and premature ageing, not to mention skin cancer, which might not become apparent until 20-30 years time!
Always wear a sunblock and practice good skin care habits from an early age.
Take care : )

Sunbeds seem nice for the short term, but if you want to look 50 when your actually 40 go for it. Now if you want to look 30 when you're 40, I wouldn't use them. Don't get caught up in the old I gotta look good to get someone to like me trick. It really is your personality that carries the most points.

You probably want men to answer this question but I have some 2 cents to put in... I think it depends on personal preference. I am Asian and in Asia, being light is considered beautiful while being dark is unattractive. I have always been a dark-skinned Asian and if I am not careful I get dark without even trying. My lightest tone in the winter is medium and in the summer I can become DARK. I would kill to have light skin, so I think you are very lucky. If you want a tan, it is healthier to use a sunless tanner (like Jergens Natural Glow daily moisturizer) than to fry yourself in the sun or tanning beds.

Why should you use sunbeds? Only if you want premature wrinkles and exposing yourself to dry skin. Nicole Kidman has milky natural white skin which makes her so beautiful. Stay as you are, you will be thankful you didn't as age creeps up on you.

pale is interesting, I live in spain as a pale girl, sunkissed can be attractive, but melignant melanomas is very unattractive. Have you tried the latest moisturisers with added sun cream, they tan without burn and are very effective. Glow honey, don´t die for the sake of a bit of colour!!!

i prefer to see a healthy natural skin. TAN = SKIN damage. so i consider that to be unhealthy. however if your skin is naturally tanned then that is great, any skin tone as long as it is 100% natural is great by me.
speaking here as a soon to be 33year old man.
I like a girl to be 100% natural no matter what. let's not forget we are mammals and as such we have hair and our own natural body odours why do we try to mask these with waxing, shaving and scents like deodorant and perfume.
as for make up unless you are really vain forget it ladies you don't need it. 99.9% of the ladies i have seen in my life would look better without makeup.

I think some natural colour from the sun would do you good. I like a little golden brown colour on women. If you are naturally light-skinned, however, beware of too much sun. You skin won't be attractive later in life.

I am really pale. I have never been to a tanning salon because I don't see the point to it. I have light skin. That's it. I don't want to create a fake look.
