An interesting note: The Philippines were a part of the US at one point. During a 10 year period of preparing for independence, Japan occupied them for a few years. After WWII ended, they gained their independence on a day famous for independence in the US as well, July 4th, 1946.

are u filipino or not? well the philippine was discovered by ferdinand magellan (born in portugal but serve in spain) on march 16, 1521 on his way to muluccas (part of indonesia) with his navigator, Sebastian del el cano.. they used 5 boats to explore.. which is Victoria, Trinidad, Conseption, Santiago and San Antonio.. they exponded the roman catholic belief.. and they meet raja humabon, they baptised raha humabon and change his name to christian name.. "CARLOS" and he was the first filipino christian.. and they also change MAI to PHILIPPINES honor to the king of spain King Phillip.. after Cebu, they went to Mactan to Explore the religion. but Lapu-lapu (the first filipino hero) kill magellan... that is all i know because i didnt grow in philippines..
