I am curious to know what you think about the government slowly taking away your rights. First, you are not allowed to carry-on ANY sharp items (including nail files) on board the plane, now, you are not able to even take drinking water onboard and they are even saying that they are considering not allowing ANY carry-on luggage in the future. At what point do you decide that the goverment has crossed the line?

When we are safe from terrorist

It isn't any way to solve the problem. Like locking the barn after the horse has already gotten out. And also, Homeland Security and the FAA and the rest of the world with any chemistry knowledge already knew about making liquid explosives with pedestrian materials readily available. AND they knew we do not have good liquid detection equipment to identify possible bomb making ingredients and to keep such liquids off airplanes. The biggest question is why in the world have these things been allowed on airplanes these past five years. Surely they are far more dangerous than nail clippers. And why the news now? What is Pakistan's role. Do they expect nuclear weapons technology in exchange for their cooperation? It is all quite curious.

Being able to fly on a plane at all is a privilege of wealth and class--not a right. If the government is indeed taking away our rights, taking water on a plane is not one of them. In this case, the government is directly protecting you. If this is the most important thing you have to be upset about, you lead a blessed life. Enjoy it.

You disagree with this? Honestly? I am happy that the government is taking such steps...those steps are to ensure OUR safety as well...would you be trusting enough to let others on with fluids knowing that one of them might well just be a terrorist trying to smuggle something onboard? I am a mother of 2 and would much prefer stricter standards to ensure the safety of my 2 precious children...

At what point do i think the government has crossed the line? When they don't do their job to stop terrorists from achieving their goal.

I'm pretty sure you never had the right to carry anything you like onto a plane. It's not in the constitution or anywhere else I know of.

Who says you have a "right" to carry on luggage?

You hane no "right" to fly a plane, any more than you have the "right" to drive a car.

There is NO constitutinal right to carry anything you want onto an airplane.

If you dont like it, dont fly!

I don't really fly but I just think that they should just use precautions because the terrorists will just find another way to try to terrorize.
It seems to me that they are succeeding in taking away our freedom because we will become so afraid to do anything.

Maybe we should have two planes, one for people who want the right to carry makeshift weapons and one for the rest of us.
