Are there more dumb people than smart people in the world?

Where do you draw the line between smart and dumb? An IQ score of 100 is both the average and the median. About 23% of people have an IQ between 85 and 100, and another 23% fall between 100 and 115. the other 54% are about evenly divided between under 85 and over 115. So about half the people are kind of average, one-forth is pretty dim, and another one-forth is fairly bright.

Ok. I'm a middle school teacher, so I feel qualified to answer this :) seeing as how I have daily exposure to a large cross-section of a population of roughly equal age. Yeah, yeah, I understand the bell curve, but frankly speaking, the dumb greatly outnumber the smart. Now, I do also feel that these terms are relative and should be defined in order to be quantified, but I would argue that overall, dim bulbs prevail with a 3 to 1 ratio (at least). Also, one can look at easily-swayed populations in history. A blatantly obvious example was Cambodia...and the "Killing Fields". Pol Pot basically too over the country and had all the "intelligent" people-teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, etc.-killed, and found too many impoverished, uneducated people to carry out these orders quite willingly. Look at the state of that country since then, and you will get a clear picture of how effective that plan was.....Was that ignorance or just plain dumb? You decide....

Statistically, there should be the same amount of low IQ people as high IQ. If Intellegence as shown in a standardized IQ test proves a bell shaped result curve that one would expect then the numbers should be about the same.
