God didn't send Christ to Israel to die for our sins. Christ taught and died in the Roman province of Judea. The people of Israel had been vanquished and banished from their homeland hundreds of years earlier by the Babylonians. Only the tribe of Judah, and members of the Levites returned to what was once Israel. That's why they were and still are called Jews to this day. It is only in modern times (1948) that the nomenclature of Israel has returned to our collective conciousness and the children of Israel (beyond the Jews) have been invited to return. I know that sounds really anal to point this out, but it is something maybe you ought to consider.

Beyond this nitpicking, why did Christ teach and die in Judea? We'll you can't undermine the value of the civilization that Christ came into. Never before had there been such a unified order in the western world (and there wasn't really another one again until modern times) like the Roman Empire of the First Century. For the first time there was roads, safe transit for correspondence, unifying languages (Greek for learning and commerce, Latin for governance) and freedom from maruading warlords and pirates. Granted the political climate wasn't all that friendly, but prophets that have it easy are never the ones we remember right. It was all about expediancy. God was just trying to give us hand in understanding him/her better.

What I would say was even more important was the power of the Jews' monotheism. I always figured Christ came because God felt it was time for humanity to understand him/her in a more unified and universal way. If you did that in a society where they see God as more than one person or with more than once face, it leads to more confusion and a message such as Christ's would be lost quicker. With one face for people to understand however, that message has a lot more staying power. All one needs to is look to the pre-dominance of monotheistic religions in the world; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam together, ALL OF WHOM CONCIEVE OF GOD AS THE SAME PERSON (Let's not forget that in todays political climate) represent well over three quarters of humanity; to prove that point.

Christ ended up in Judea for the same reason Mohammed ended up in Mecca. It wasn't cause they were blessed so much as they were the right agents for the task. After all, it obviously worked.

God did not send Jesus to Israel to die . Jesus died in Judea . The state of Israel did not exist until the early 50s.... The people of todays Israel were dispersed and held captive by Roman Legions in approximately 63AD. The expulsion of the people resulted in their being without a real "HOMELAND" until the early 50s.
God promised the Hebrews (ISRAEL ) that they would be a great nation if they continued to believe He was GOD and obey HIM ONLY
see : Deuteronomy 28 verse 1 . Also see Genisis 28 vs 13 -14 .
I believe that God could have sent Jesus anywhere .. He sent Him where and when He wanted too..
But the best thing is that Jesus was sent and that He died for the sins of all mankind.. All of us .Black and white Jew and Gentile for all time.He died for us all . It's our job to believe in Jesus as our Savior and to live as He would wish us to . It's not easy, we need to ask for the forgiveness of the sins we commit and will commit even for the things we fail to do ...we should believe so that none of us should perish . I am forgiven , not a saint , just forgiven and I try to live a good life...as HE would want me to .
It is appropriate in these days in the world we live in ,to secure our seat near the throne of God and belive on His Son Jesus Christ.and Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and of the middle east........

Maybe he threw a dart at a map and hit there. If he had died in, say Japan instead, you would be asking, why there?

Israel was the crossroads of three continents, and the middle point between many of the world's major civilizations at the time. Easy for Christianity to spread that way.

Why did he send Jesus to the Middle East, for Christ's sake? Couldn't he have sent Jesus to the Incas or the Mayas or Aztecs, or some other culture that had something going? Maybe the Anasazis of Grand Canyon. THEY'D have known how to handle meeting the messiah, I tell you that. THEY wouldn't still be fighting over the whole damn thing!

Because that is how the word was written in the beginning when the heavens where created and God created man knowing that the things that Adam and Eve did would happen in order to lead up to the crucifying of Christ. God knew what he was doing so don't ever question him.

If he had sent him somewhere else then you could ask why he was sent there. Does it really matter where it was?
