I'm from Mexico.
I remeber a story about the moon and the sun. That they were lovers but they couldn't be together but they loved each other so much that every certain time they would be allowed to be together, and that's why there are eclipses.
The rabbit and the moon
Quetzalcoatl (a God) visited the earth as a human, he walked so many days and nights that he grew hungry and tired. A small rabbit saw him and ask him what was wrong.
Quetzalcoatl answer:
"I'm hungry and tired"
the rbbit offered him some leaves and greens and quetzalcoath repplied that he had already eaten that.
the rabbit offered him fruits, quetzalcoatl repplied, "I've already eaten that, but my hunger has not ceased"
To which the rabbit answer : "Why don't you eat me, I'm a simple humble rabbit and you're a GOd"
Quetzalcoatl paid the rabbits sacrifice by sending his image to the moon, so that everyone could see him whenever there's a full moon.
also in some places people believe that whenever there's a solar eclipse, pregnant women should not be exposed, because their unborn could have birth defects, and that they should wear something red to protect their child.

The moon in the past meant that it would be crazy with the legends of werewolves, witches and things that go bump in the night. Also, the moon help decides whether or not that it would be a good harvest.

Well, there are a lot of mythological stories associated with Moon (Chandra) here in India. The moon is supposed to represent the God Chandra who is the God of nights. During lunar eclipses, it is said that an evil "rakshasa" called Rahu tries to swallow the moon alive and people mark these occassions as very inauspicious.

chinese belive that long long time ago, there were 10 suns in the sky. a guy named Hou-Yi, using a magical bow and arrow to shoot down 9 suns (therefore we have only 1 sun now). he became a hero and married a girl named Chang-E. because he was tooo famous, slowly he became too proud and begin to be cruel to other people. think he is better then other man on earth. he ask his man to get himself a magic potion that will make him immortal. his wife Chang-E knew it and decided to steal the potion from him (to prevent him to become immortal and keep on harming other people). while she stealing the potion, he found out and accidentally she drank it. she then fly to the moon and become immortal. even though she becomes immortal, but she has to stay on moon. she becomes the fairy on the moon. beside Chang-E, there is also a guy named Wu-Gang on the moon and a rabbit.... that is a famous fairy tale among Chinese all around the world (i'm a Malaysian Chinese).
However, Neil Armstrong didn't see her when he land on the moon with his Apollo.

I think in my country people see the moon in a very modern and scientific way. There is very little superstition left. Maybe some people feel or say that the full moon affects them emotionally or something like that.
I'm from Finland, North-Europe.

small town in u.s. a lot of people believe that the moon affects your emotions. statistics show that when the moon is full crime rates, fights and spouse abuse are up. when the moon is new more women go into labor. if the moon can control the tides, why not people's emotions? i know a girl whos' boyfriend won't call her for days when the moon is full and if she does talk to him, he picks a fight with her ( true! ). i don't know if all this is for real but i think people believe it is.

Did you ever see the cheese commercial? It went something like this: People used to think the moon was made of cheese. The space program was started and we spent billions to get to the moon. Consequently, we found out the moon was not made of cheese...We've never returned.

Hesperia, California. I am a witch and for me and my other "witchy" freinds it means the time for worship and ritual is here. We celebrate the goddess every full moon. It is a joyous time.
According to old folklore it is also a time when people seem to go a bit nuts hence the term (Luna)tics.

Ambler, PA - USA.
A full moon means trouble - supposedly.
To be honest, people in my area drive like lunetics even when the moon isn't full. So much for that theory.
