God apparently chose a tiny and insignificant nation to change the world so that it would be clear that it was a miracle that the most popular world religion could come from such an insignificant people.
It also appears that God chose Israel as a favor to Abraham.

He didn't Israel chose God
they wrote the bible from their point of view to match their agenda. Of course they're going to say God is on their side

It was all about Mary. He knew she would be the vessel that he would be born from.
Using her, he could be two places at the same time, pray to himself and get to eat mommas cooking.
The virgin mother was foreseen to be a descendant of king David. Besides, they proved to be a very resilient race as evidenced by over 3k yrs of history.

Because the Jews invented the god everyone calls God. It's their invention, therefore it has to favor them and their lands.
