90% of the time i find if you highlight the item you want to "delete" and hit delete on the keyboard that works.
Or alternatively click on the little arrows at the side of the icons; because everyone is a drop-down menu then select options and personalize your settings.

You can delete the history of search bar on ur homepage (whatever it is either Yahoo! or Google) by following this path. Tools> internet options> content> auto complete> clear forms. To stop the generation of history uncheck the box of forms.
You can delete the search history on ur yahoo toolbar this way. click the arrow in the search box. Select options, click clear history. Follow this path also. Pencil> toolbar options> uncheck the boxes of enable auto complete and enable history> ok.
To delete address bar history, follow this path. Tools> internet options> general > clear history > set the number of days to zero> ok.
It will solve your all search related problems.

Go to Tools -> Internet Option and then Press Clear History. All the information will go from the URL box.

you would need to disable autocomplete in IE.
To disable all AutoComplete settings:
1. From Internet Explorer, choose "Tools" then "Internet Options".
2. From the "Internet Options" multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, select the "Content" tab.
3. Click the "AutoComplete" button.
4. Uncheck everything.
5. Click the "Clear Forms" button.
6. Click the "Clear Passwords" button.
7. Press "OK" to close the dialog boxes.

if you have a yahoo toolbar click the pencil picture beside the search box and it says clear history. if its just on google. i dont know what to tell you.
go to your internet properties and click "delete files" then "delete all offline content" when you click delete files,
and "delete all history".
if that doesnt help i dont know what will
