ummm......when doing a split you can bend your front leg in, and leave the back straight, it's a less intense split, so it should help some what.....but i've been injured too so i understand what your going through as a dancer. For me, i just tried to holding my splits for about 2 min. That was my goal, at first just try holding the stretch for at least 40seconds this will help your muscle adjust to the stretch, also if it is your left thigh that was injured i would also do lunges that should help w/ your theighs.

Well you can start getting back into shape by stretching everyday and holding at least each stretch for 30 seconds.

To eventually be able to do the splits you need to DO the splits. Also lunges, pikes, etc will help. Try laying on your back and pulling your legs to your head. The gravity will help you.

If at all you feel pain you should stop. Make sure you warm up to get the most effective stretches you can.

Good Luck

certain! i become 13 after I first began martial arts and those first few months were painful because I wasn't versatile. i'm 16 now and far extra versatile and loving it. I continually get a kick out of my pal's faces at the same time as and in the adventure that they ever see me do a splits. also, there might want to be no longer some thing that stops your means to stretch in the course of puberty or some thing in any respect. be particular to carry in there once you're stretching and do not push too complicated, good success!

well it might be scary to start out as a dancer again since thats how you injured yourself, but i might suggest ballet? ballet and gymnastics work well together.
gymnastics is great and pilates would be a nice slower pace relaxing way. and to take tension off of the injury with all of the sudden work and hard strengthening for flexibility, take up swimming which is good for your joints!
the best things i'd say to do are either gym or ballet, and swim.

Whatever you do, you shouldn't start a warm-up by just jumping into a full stretch. Start out by stretching farther down until you fell only slight discomfort. Stay there for ten seconds. Do different stretches to stretch different muscles. Do this everyday and you will eventually have your flexability back. Good luck with your dancing.

The only thing I know to do is stretch before you use it. I don't think you should give up on being a dancer.

I think, given your specific history and special needs, that you should be assessed by a physiotherapist, who will recommend a program through which you can regain your former flexibility. Good luck!
