LeBron was a great wide receiver for St. Vincent-St. Mary, but he was head and shoulders above everyone else in basketball. He just realized where his true talent was and went with it. He played football through his senior year, BTW.

Most likely so that he could focus on basketball. With basketball, he had much less of a chance of getting hurt, and he could enter the NBA straight out of high school and make pretty good money, whereas with the NFL he would have had to go to college.
LeBron probably could have been an amazing professional football player, but sometimes you have to pick a focus and stick with it, and LeBron has been very successful doing just that.

Lebron was one of the best WR's in the nation, but wanted to play basketball more, his decision was based mainly on these things: 1) less chance of an injury in b-ball 2) more money and endorsements 3) he could go straight to the pro's in b-ball, but in f-ball you have to play college and there's a chance for injury

Lebron James can do what he wants. He probably loved basketball more so he wanted to be more committed to it. But I bet if he wanted to he could of went pro in football too but he wouldn't of been as good.

simply put, he knew where he could be more of an outstanding player. also he knew where less injury was going to be.
he was smarter than Charlie Ward. Ward was a better quarterback but he chose basketball because it was his favorite. He could have been something in the NFL. Now people are like Charlie who? Brown?
James made the smartest decision. It is his better sport.

He figured he could be great in either, but since there's a bigger chance of injury playing football, he chose basketball.

He was a star on his team. But he quit so he could have more time to practice/play basketball.
