Ok, seems like South Park has struck again! lol
Sweetie, if you go in the sun use a good sunscreen with an SPF of 20+.
"Ginger" means you are very fair skinned with red or reddish hair. When you go out in the sun you can burn very easily and it is very painful. It can also lead to skin cancer or premature aging of the skin.
My skin is very fair too, although I'm not a ginger, I'm Nordic (one of the few of my heritage who don't tan!).
The reason they say "ginger" kids can't go out in the sun is because of how quickly and badly they burn, and it is a way of joking about the delicate nature of those with such coloring.

Sensitive skin is super sensitive to the sun, and prolonged light exposure makes it way easier for burns. As pigments of this type of skin is not always the same all over the body. That's why most Reds(gingers) get sun sprinkles or freckles, as most people call them. It's what make you unique and beautiful so enjoy it and use sun screens, you'll have more youthful looking skin.

Please be careful!
Its our skin! We must wear sunscreen all the time. I even wear a hat most of the year, my scalp burns.
My makeup has sunscreen as does my lotions. I am blessed to say I have not had any skin cancers, but everyone on in my "direct" family with the same pigment skin has...nose, ears, arms and one big toe.
We don't tan, so save your time! A spray on bronzer will work to make you look darker, it will not protect you from the sun , yet it is wonderful to "live" another life for a holiday.

No, clue... my guess is that because ginger people are paler... I can't go into the sun either, and I'm a blonde.

'Cos they have low levels of melanin in the skin and this also tends to make them freckley. Pale skinned freckley people are incredibly susceptable to sun damage.

your skin just burns really easily because it's naturally so pale, i'm the same way! just pump up the SPF and you shouldn't have a problem.
