I have just farted and almost instantly i smelt it. How can these gases get to your nose so fast. Especially as they are pointed downwards and away from my nose ??

Passed gas is at body temperature. Hot gas rises. It also quickly diffuses outward into the air. Rule of thumb.....he who smells it first, expelled it.
