No matter how tired he is he will cry until he gets his pacifier, and when he losses it he demands it back, is it too late to take it away from him?

I would try later, when he's about 8 months old. At 3 months he might still really need it, my daughter did. It won't hurt him, plus studies now show that pacifer use may help prevent SIDS. Let him enjoy his pacifier for now, it won't cause him, or his teeth, any harm at this point. Children's teeth aren't affected unless they use a pacifier after the age of 3, although I think most kids should get rid of it by age 2. Good Luck.

Let your baby have his pacifier. It is his comfort when he is sleeping. 3 months old is to early to take it away anyways. A pacifier with how young he is helps to prevent against SIDS also. I would say let him have it until he throws it out. Unless he is like 1 1/2 and hasn't thrown it out by then. Then you need to take it away from him. My son threw his out at 6 months old and never wanted it back. Eventually he will learn how to pick it up and put it in his own mouth when he loses it, but right now that is what you are for because he doesn't know how.

My baby needed a pacifier to sleep at 3 months but gradually stopped wanting it on her own at about 5-6 months. Don't stress, just let him have it at this age. It is more important for his health that he get enough sleep. Lack of sleep will impair his development but sucking a pacifier won't.

No, it's not too late. I'm glad you're considering taking it away now. My husband and I said we'd never give our kids a pacifier, and now (at 29 months and 13 months) we FINALLY got them off of them. If you think it's bad taking a pacifier away from a 3 month old, try taking it away from a 2 year old. Not fun...

As long as you're sure nothing is bothering him (gas, colic, illness, teething, too hot or too cold, isn't hungry, doesn't need a diaper, etc.) you can just let him cry it out. Many parents don't like to do this because they think it's cruel. It's one of those topics like abortion or religion...everyone has a VERY strong opinion on it, so you'll get mixed reactions when you mention it.

My sons' pediatrician said to let them cry for 15 minutes, and after that, go check on them. If there's still nothing wrong, let them cry. Eventually he will learn to comfort himself and fall asleep on his own.

You don't want to end up rocking your three year old baby to sleep every night, you know?

My 4 month old weaned herself off of it. After she found her fist and fingers to suck on, she lost interest in the pacifier. And I only used the pacifier for naptime or bedtime. Try using the miracle blanket to swaddle your baby so that he calms down first. Then stick a pacifier in his mouth for extra comfort. I say wean him off of it slowly.

3 months is way too young to take away the pacifier. my niece usd her pacifier until she was 1 and a half. we just took it away from her and never bought her one again and she got used to it.

No way is it too early. Some kids suck on a pacifier until there 3 (though I think thats alittle long).Wait until at least 6m-1year.Then just take it gradually or take it away all at once,
thats up to you.

It may seem hard, but you can't let yourself be commanded by a 3 month old. Sleep will come, doesn't matter how much he screams, do it now before he is walking around at 3 years with a pacifier.

Remember you are the parent, you are the boss.

If he;s only 3 months then its not gonna hurt himn to have it. It;s very soothing for them it help keep them calm in this new enviroment. it is better for them stress wise to use the binki until they first get teeth. I realy recomend you don't take it a way from him.
Just my opinion.

If you want your sleep - let your baby keep the Sucky! If you're willing to stay up and comfort your baby until he falls asleep - take it away. Simple choice - it was for me anyway.
