The answer depends on the following:
1 - HOW your injury happened?
2 - Were you performing your job at the time the injury happened? If so, your injury ought to be covered
3 - Did you file a claim BEFORE the legal Deadline?
4 - Was your claim accepted?
5 - Did they stop your workers comp payments?

MANY STATES have Vocational Retraining - the term is “Vocational Rehabilitation” often called “voc Rehab” for short. In order to qualify for Voc Rehab, your injury MUST have been deemed compensable - that means that your claim must have been accepted. IF you qualify for voc rehab, THEN in most instances you can collect workers comp & still re-train for another job. The reason I am saying this, is because many employers will NOT hold a job open for that long a period, UNLESS you have a caring employer

You can try applying for Long Term Disability - - many employers have this coverage. You will need to contact your Human Resources Department, and ask them about whether you qualify for Long Term Disability benefits. IF they are not willing to help - then contact your State Department of Labor, and they can help you.

If you need to chat with a lawyer online for free - try visiting http://www.prairielaw.com They have lawyers from different states.

Did you report the injury? You may be eligible for worker's comp which pays a portion of medical bills and lost wages because of an injury you got on the job.
