Ok My fiance has an 11 year old daughter and she is very smart and very sweet and I get along with her great. Her mom gave birth to her 1 month before her 18th birthday. Now my step daughter is telling me my mommy told me she had me at 16 and the little girl breaggs about it and think its cool. I think its wrong (of course I didnt comment to her response) that 1 the mother is lying to her about how old she was when she had her, and 2nd isint she alittle two young for her mom to be bragging about this maybe it should be a conversation for when the child is alittle older? Also wont the child have the idea in her head oh well if my mom can do it at 16 so can I. Does anyone think this is wrong and if so should I discuss it with the childs father???

I would definitely talk to her dad about it. And I DO think it's wrong, because it sounds like she's a proponent of young teenagers having sex, and that isn't a message a preteen should here! I guess how you handle it will depend greatly on both the relationship your stepdaughter has with her dad, and the one your fiance has with his ex. Whatever you do, I would let him be the one to bring it up with his ex...but maybe you can talk to your stepdaughter about how serious sex is and about why it's important to wait instead of having it so young.

I would have a talk with the mother first, and if that did not work then talk with the father, I am sure the child is a blessing, but no teen pregnancy is something to brag about, this day in age to many things can go bad wrong, HIV, etc. its better to be little a little longer, life is hard enough for a single teen but a pregnant one it is pure hell.

I agree, first of all it sounds like the mother is proud that she had a baby at 16, even if she is lying about the age, which is sad that she would want to make it seem like it is OK to have babies that young. I feel you should bring it up to the father, but he needs to be the one to talk to the daughter and or the mother, he needs to be the one to confront the mother and get things straight.

Um, the only thing responsible parent tell their children about having children is to wait as long as they can.

I'm not sure why the mother is lying to begin with, maybe you should trying talking to the mother first, then the father, then the girl.

At any rate, you should also trust the girl to be as smart as she appears to be.

The mother sounds like a real pig if she would tell her daughter stuff like that, tell the child's father because someone needs to set this kid straight.

You probably should. If she keeps bragging about how "cool" her mother is for having her at a juvenile age, then she herself might lose hr virginity at that age, too, not to mention that she might influenc her friends.

That's very wrong. Talk to your husband about it.
If not, and if it continues on, there's a good chance she'll get pregnant at 16.

You are a great stepmom to care. Yes, definetly. Good luck. Your stepdaughter needs the care she obviously isn't getting from her mother.

Did you ever think her mother TOLD her so she would not do the same thing? What do you expect that the little girl be ashamed of the way she was conceived?
