No, this isn't a good site to use. Many of my former profs have really ridiculous ratings. People who got good grades think they're wonderful and people who got bad grades hate them. Its way too subjective, especially since people mostly use it to rant or rave and don't bother if they just kinda liked or didn't like the prof. I think that if you ask students on your campus what they think of profs they've had, you're much more likely to get opinions that will help you to make a choice.

It's okay, but not always accurate. Some professors aren't listed on there. I have seen very negative comments for really good professors. Other times I have seen good comments for professors who I dislike. I think that it doesn't hurt to look at the site. Just don't base your whole schedule on it.

Always look up your professors. Rate My Professor is great as it gives you real opinions from students who have had them. If your school has a website for rating professors, then even better - use that!

Make sure they aren't mean people who don't care about their students.

yes and no
most of the time its how well you adjust to the professor and understand him- each person "takes in" material differently. Therefore, one person might think a professor is impossible while the other will love him/her.
Take the classes that you need to take and want to take, and then see what you think within the first week, if you like it stay, if you dont, you can drop it for something else.

Depends on the school you go to.

1. Make sure he knows about what he is teaching.

2. Make sure he is friendly and not so mean.
