i heard from a friend that some places in the U.S. have a law saying that a woman can't get her tubes tied before the age of 26. is that true?

After the birth of my first child, I wanted my tubes tied but my doctor would not do it because I was 21 with two children. He told me he would tie them after I had two children no matter my age.

i don't know about there being a law...but doctors are probably very reluctant to give tubal sterilization to a woman who is so young, because it is irreversable, and such a young person has a lot of time for a situation to arrise in which she will change her mind about not wanting a baby. For instance, if she has a child and he dies...she probably didn't think of that one when she got her tubes tied, but now shes stuck...
thats probably what doctors are thinking
