The biography of Malcolm X, my grandma went to grade school with him, and at that time whites didn't like blacks, but my grandma was different, she was his friend, she even let him come to her house after school so he could have some oranges or whatever they had extra of, because Malcolm's family had 7 kids in it and no money for food. I love this book, because it was also written by my uncle. It's a good book.

I read Paul Auster's City of Glass (first part of New York trilogy) two times in the last 4 months. I love it. The plot itself is heading towards minimalism, but is still full of tension. It is world, the fears, the questions and the quest of a postmodern man. It's structure is also amazing: the way the novel deals with inter-texts is fantastic.

There are many others I could read again, but there are so many good books and so little time, that I decided to keep on reading new ones and not turning back to those I have already read. At least not yet. But somewhere in my mind, there is the list with those books that should be read again sometime.

I read "The Lord of the Rings" once a year whether I need to or not. I keep a copy of Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet" at my bedside. I have read every book in the Robert Jordan "Wheel of Time" series at least 4 times. Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Dreams" is one that comes out a lot. So do "Tess of the D'urbervilles" and "Wuthering Heights". For balance, I go with Harlan Ellison's short stories, Jorge Louis Borges stories, and Gabriel Garcia Marquez novels. Two books that recently blew me away, and I immediately re-read twice after reading them, were "God of Samll Things" by Arundhati Roy, and "Sea Glass" by Anita Shreve. Finally, I got wonderfully lost in John McPhee's "Annals of the Former World". I read it through twice, and need to read it at least twice more.

The African Safari Papers by Robert Sedlack. A portrait of a family slowly going insane, set out in diary form. Funny, shoking, sad and everything in between. Has a great ending too...
