The US Open Series refers to all the summer Hard-court tournaments leading up to the US Open. These tournaments include Indianopolis, Los Angeles, Tennis Masters Series Canada Toronto, Tennis Masters Series Cincinnati, New Haven Connecticut, etc. The top three finishers in these tournaments will recieve bonus money at the US Open. The top point getter will recieve a 100% bonus meaning they will double the prize money wherever they finish at the US Open. Example, if they lose in the semifinals the top point getter receives 1.1 million the same as the champion would get. thats 550,000 times 2. The 2nd place point getter receives a 50% bonus, and third gets a 25% bonus. They same bonus applies to both men and women.

Both previous answers are wrong. Sorry to say..

The US Open series is the name given to a series of other tennis tournament that precede the US Open grand slam tournament.

They have a special ranking (both for WTA and ATP). The winner of this US Open Series (meaning, the player that is most successful in all these tournaments) will see his/her US Open prize money DOUBLED!

This means that, imagine that Roger Federer wins this US open series (he's the player that performs the better in all the series tournaments). If he wins also the US Open, instead of 1million, he will win 2 million dollars.

Nice huh?
