Maybe it's because my parents are divorced so I wouldn't understand, but why is it that I look at marriages as a crazy idea? I mean, how can two people really share their lives together and never be initimate with another member of the opposite sex. How are marriages maintained with such animation and unpredicability? I mean, ugh.. it's just seems like I'd be sick of guy, or he'd be sick of me within a month.

That is a real simple answer its call commitment and communication. Both are required for a long lasting relationship. To many people would rather divorce than work through the problems.

Hi Kell, I just read your question. there is something I'd like to share with you. First I'm married and have been for 13 years. And beleive me it does take work. It is an commitment that you make. I think that most marriages that last is some ,happen later in life and the two people are more mature and ready to settle down. Kind of what happened with my husband and I. we were in our early thirty's. now were old. LOL seriously it is worth all the effort we put into it. Love is so precious and special, that we would never take it for granted. Trust is very imporant. respect is way up there at the top of the list. I also feel there are those that just aren't marriage material. Not all, just some. Don't get me wrong here we have our fair share of things to deal with. But we work them out. Being young can have alot to do with how you feel on the subject. I also came from a broken home. I learned through trial an error, along with some heart ache. I believe in my heart. marrage is all about giving to someone and not excepting anything in return, not that you give constantly and never recieve, you will if it's the right person. unconditional love is how we feel. neither of us are perfect and we don't judge one another. being on the same page is part of it as well. the statment about getting sick of the other one? for me personaly , not a chance in ---- I love my husband dearly. This is a quote ok But not sure who said it, But it is better to have loved than never have loved at all. I hope I was able to put your mind about marriage at rest. I wish you all the happiness in what life has instore for you. this is what works for us.

It's all about finding the person you love, then being committed to your marriage. Divorce these days is used as an easy out when people don't want to deal with thier problems. It's easier to run away than face the music. My mom was divorced twice. I have been married for 10 years. We have our problems, right now going through some pretty bad finacial problems. It does cause aguements, but I'm not willing to throw away 10 years of marriage for it. We need to sit down together and make a plan. Sometimes it takes some support, luckily my in laws are awesome and are very supportive of not just my husband, but me as well. As for the sex thing.....we just find new things to try with each other and make it fun......
Bottom line....It takes work...life isn't easy, marriage isn't easy so make sure when you find the one your going to say "I do" to, that you really mean it and are going to work through the tough times and not run for the nearest lawyer.

Great people to ask are those that have been married for a long time. My parents were married for 43 years. They always told me the key to staying married is one commitment, two a great sense of humor, three have fun together. Everything else will work it's self out. Not to say that you will not have difficulty, but anything worth having is worth fighting for. I have been married for 4 years now. It is not always easy, but we work at it. I am glad that I have someone that I know will be there to help and support me. I know you think that sex would get boring, that is only if you are not creative. Intimacy is being with someone that you truly love and are committed to, not just temporarily.

Well, thats the whole point of having a courtship or getting to know stage of two couples before they get married because during these times the couples can see what their partners might be when they are finally married and also these are the times where you can ask questions to ur hubby to really see what are his/her goals when finally married and stuff like that. All these are very important.

And also, to avoid having failed marriage,
-see if your bf/gf has the same goals like you,
-see if he posses qualities you want in your husband or wife,
-make sure that you really LOVE the person and not just INFATUATED with him/her.
Sometimes the real reason of failed marriage is because the LOVE for one another wasn't really love but instead it was just INFATUATION, it was like just a sudden feeling but it was really not sure..its hard to explain.

Its All about love. When you love someone, nothing else in the world matters to you. That one person you see as perfect for you and no one could possibly compare. And when you communicate with that other person you could make anything last. Communication is key to any relationship...you got to be honest. And when you truely love someone having sex with some else just isnt in the picture, you have your soul-mate what more could you ask for. Thats just my prospective, my parents have been married for 17 years now and they got married at 15 and 19 because my mother got pregnant with me. If it wasnt for them always being honest with each other, truely loving each other, and communicating with each other it would of never worked out but all those things are important to them in their relationship, thats what makes it so amazing.

Love. When you truly are in love with someone, they are all you need. I agree that being with one person sexually for 50-60 years is amazing...
