how long does it take after you ovulate, do you become pregnant? i was just wondering because me and my husband are trying for a baby.

If your egg got fertilized during ovulation, it takes from 6 to 8 days for your baby to implant, after implantation your body starts producing hcg and at about 8 more days after implantation is when you can get a positive pregnancy test, so it would be about 16-18 days after ovulation that you get a positive pregnancy test.

Well, a woman with a fairly regular cycle would expect her period to start about 14 days after ovulation and so anywhere from 10-14 days after ovulation she could do a home pregnancy test.

You can actually have intercourse before ovulating and then the sperm stays in your body until the egg is released, so you would become pregnant right when you ovulate.

You can also become pregnant during ovulation or a few days after. You may not be able to pinpoint the exact day, but sometimes you can tell when conception occurred by when you experience implantation symptoms (light cramping and bleeding) around 2 weeks after conceiving.

Conception should occur within 24 hours or so of ovulation. An egg doesn't live that long, so it needs to be fertilized. If you have determined when you are ovulating (temperature method or ovulation predictor kit), then have sex 4 days before, 2 days before, on the day of ovulation and then 1-2 days after ovulation. Well you can get pregnant in a matter of hours up to about 5 days but you won't be able to know or do a home test until you miss your period
