I've had some interest from a newspaper ad, but only one job. What would be a good medium to get the attention of private school families-those who can afford the tuition and are motivated to hire a tutor?

I contacted all the schools around here and they will only give out the names of their own teachers. I am not currently teaching at a school and I am new in the area

hand out flyers to the parents as they come to pick up the students.

Also, put notices up on community bulletin boards like those at the library, small grocery stores, the Y etc.

Flyers are cheap ($5 for 100 or so) and they can be very effective.

You might consider actually approaching the schools. Let the principal know what your skills and qualifications are, and what services you can offer. Bring copies of a flyer or brochure with you. They often offer such information to their parents. Do you know any teachers at those schools? They might be able to offer suggestions.

See if you can post ads on the bulletin boards of local trendy gyms or clubs - parents probably go there. Seek out other services the parents of students at the schools you are interested in might use, and see it there are some possibilities.

I hope these suggestions help.

Put your info on Yahoo questions! I think you just waisted a question asking where when you should've asked Who!

Otherwise, consult with the principles of the schools in your surrounding and place an ad in the school hall!

Don't forget public schools - there are plenty of people with money who may need your services.

My son is autistic, but goes to public school, and we hire a tutor to help him with reading in the summer.
