Rights come with integrity. I think when people think "child"...the first thing that comes to their mind is a young child. I remember when I was in High school (without a doctors letter) a boy faked crutches just to get attention from people...not just for a day...but several days. And of course...my first thought regarding the above would be that the child did not need the crutches at all (a few hops and the ol' foot comes down..."Oh wow...look there...you can walk!). I can't imagine a principal and yard duty montitor taking crutches away from a child that needed them. We forget that these people spend a lot of time with our children and, at times, probably know them better than we do. If in fact, my son was pulling a fast one...I would let him experience some accountaility... and, it sounds like that's what happened. Embarrassment can be a great teacher.

Sounds very hard to believe that a principal of a school would do this...BUT..."IF" it did happen and it was some form of discipline by taking my child's crutches away..well...I would be in his office in a flash and I would take it as far as I could take it to make sure that he no-longer would be principal of that school.

If it was me injured and they took my crutches and would refuse to give them back is to call a relative or other authority figure(police). They aren't supposed to do that.
Following that, assuming they intend to be nasty about it, I would contact the superintendant, school council, and the local paper. A lawsuit should be a slam dunk if any witnesses were there.

Go to the super intendent or call the police. I don't know what the police could do though. Super intendent may suspend the principal without pay. Sounds like this would be considered a civil suit. dont know for sure

I would shut my mouth and never ever do what caused the Principal to do that in the first place.
Suck it up and stop whining.

I would claim cruel and unusual punishment and sue him and the school district for violating my Constitutional rights.
