Odds are it is a dead battery. Even though the lights come on that does not mean the battery has enough juice to crank over the engine. That is the first thingto check. After that you may have a problem with the alternator, but if it push starts it is most likely just a dead battery.

Could be as simple as a starter relay or solenoid even a neutral safety switch would cause it not to start this is a switch on the clutch pedal. Use a jumper wire on the switch and see if the car starts if it does it's the switch. If you don't feel comfortable with using a jumper wire use a test light to see if the switch is working.
Good Luck!

I had a 92 and it did the same thing. The starter may be messed up or a connection with wires that start the car may not be touching right. They could be corroded and need to be scrapped off. Just a thought! Hope it helps.

Stays running okay after you push start it? If so, the alternator is probably okay. Get a buddy with some jumper cables. Start okay with jumper cables? Bad battery then. Go get a new one from Wal-Mart.

If you have lights or like radio,it's not the battery, it may be the starter or the alternator? Also, you may want to check spark plug connections?
