Personally, I never liked that term. I live my life as to who I am, and if someone doesn't like it, that's their problem not mine.

If your family and friends love you, they will accept you. The next time you have a group together, just get their attention.

"Everyone, I need to say something. I love you all and I hope you will understand. I'm......." Fill in the blank as you will. "I don't expect you to do anything, I just needed to say it. I've been afraid to tell you. I'll answer any questions as best I can, but I hope you will accept my decision to be true to myself."

And welcome to the Family.

If you are in high school (or younger) my advice would be to wait for a bit longer to really be sure of your identity but seek out a trusted guidance counselor or teacher and talk with them. If you are older and have had several experiences and are really sure this is your true identity, start with an older person whom you trust--a teacher, counselor, someone who really isn't a threat--who will keep your converstation confidential and who will be open-minded and will truly listen to you. A minister of a United Church of Christ would be a great contact. That church is very affirming and gay-friendly. You could also seek out the student gay organization at your school if you are still in school--either in high school or college.

I'd strongly advise you to find a trusted, older person first before talking to your friends, parents or others. He/she will help you prepare yourself to take that bigger step. Good Luck. I was once where you are now.

This is in the entertainment catagory? Sit down & tell someone one-on-one. Tell them that you are needing to have a very important conversation with them.

you already came out to me. =D

it just takes time. Don't worry about it. We're both still fun-loving teens. If we meet a boy great, if we don't...we always have the other gender to turn to.
