Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock(if it even exists anymore),Emo(whatever the **** that means anyway), all of which are formulated by music execs that pump out the most amount of music so they can to turn a profit. All the while all the sheep are buying into the latest trends due to constant marketing an bombardment of what is hip and cooool. Easy answer - because that's all the corporate-owned radio stations will play, either 'cause they're told to by the labels or they're paid off.
If the current state of corporate radio and the music business were around 30 years ago, I truly believe that bands such as Led Zeppelin, Mothers Of Invention, Black Sabbath, Rush and Deep Purple would never have made it past the bar-band circuit, because the labels wouldn't have seen any of them being able to sell 10 million discs on their first outing. That's why the indie labels and radio stations sometimes have the best music out there - they're willing to take a chance.
Not that I'm bitter about this or anything...

I always find it strange how people point out the poor state of today's music, and then talk about bands from the early 90s as the "great ones." When I think about the state of music today, I think about the 60s and early 70s; everything has been going steadily downhill since then.

I do - I like it relatively. for my section, i do no longer go with to combination faith and secular - consequently, the non secular music I relatively have a tendency to love are the previous-shaped hymns, Gregorian chants (those are SO soothing), classical non secular music, and greater classic stuff. whilst i am going with to take heed to rock music, I like it to be secular - quite a few the Christian compliment music is all real, yet I do only no longer like it. i am going with to be waiting to rock out once I hear to rock music - and that i will do this to secular music.
