I always thought (and still do) that it was stupid and obnoxious. The fact that it was a children's show created by a pervert didn't help much either.

Paul Reubens was caught wanking in a porn theater. He didn't even have the decency to buy his porn, take it home with him, and do that in the privacy of his own home. (Although, one must ask: why were there cops in the porn theater? And isn't wanking kind of expected in a place like that?)

He was also arrested for the possession of kiddie porn. He explained it by saying that he was buying vintage erotica, and just accidentally got kiddie porn. Yeah, right. As though he didn't notice.

I think people watched it then because it was different and bizzarre for kids and adults alike. I think that is why people still watch it (have you noticed they only show it on Adult Swim? Curious.).

Loved Pee-Wee, still do and so do my kids. He was a hysterical comedic genius who got a bad rap becuase he got caught doing what ALL men do!! I admire hime for hosting the MTV awards and opening with, "Heard any good jokes lately?" because at the time there were so many jokes about him. I have all the Playhouses on DVD and Big Adventure and I still say "I know you are but what am I?!" when someone insults me. I am a grown up who appreciates a character. I never care what actors do in real life. He didn't hurt a child and lost his career over a mistake. He was also excellent in Blow (Depp film), and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie). All around, a great actor. AAAND he was the voice of one of the trick or treaters in Nightmare Before Christmas. Clearly Hollywood has forgiven him, can't you!

I always thought it was funny. It didn't matter to me who created it, because it didn't change what he did on camera. It was something different, and kids liked him obviously. They made a doll to look like him...
