What about your body liquids after all urea has chemicals i.e ammonia that can be use as explosive. The skeptic in me tells me this is nothing more than a big media event. Just when there was a one day lull in the war in Lebannon. Here comes another big media event. Seems to me the cops would want to arrest these guys quietly and then buid a case with strong evidence and not cause the hype and chaos they have now that we are all gonna die of thirst while flying.

Perhaps they're trying to put off any remaining wannabe bombers

Is this all just another big media event...... Perhaps. Is it a nessessary percaution to make flights safer..... Perhaps. Will the people that are hell-bent on causing terror find a different way to accomplish their goal.... Probably.
I know this may be a "stretch" but seeing as how the people who were going to carry the explosives on the planes were "suicide bombers", what would keep them from just carring the liquid explosives on board by ingesting them before they boarded the plane. True, the explosive liquids would be more than likely lethal to whoever ingested them, but as long as they make it to the plane who is to say that a co-conspirator could not be carrying some type of detonator to actually use the guy that ingested the explosives as the actuall bomb.

Perhaps I have just seen way to many bad TV programs and movies, but if the final intention of these suicide bombers is to die anyway, who is to say that they would not try something like that.

It is a real shame that we have to live in fear because of these miss-guided souls. I remember back when the worst thing you had to worry about while flying, was getting a bad case of the "runs" from the crappy airline food. It is really sad, that this is what the world has come to.

I know people are complaining that they are loosing more and more of their civil liberties by banning items from carry on luggage. I say, if it can make a flight even a little more safe for all the passingers, and set some peoples minds at ease........ SO BE IT!

They're not trying to keep ALL liquids off the plane...After all, they're still going to serve you drinks! They just need to keep the peroxide-based explosives-making liquids off the plane. The reason they won't let us bring liquids onto the plane, is because the peroxide-based liquids are extremely easy to hide...they may look like water, for example.

Your pee won't turn the other product into an explosive, so bring along as much as you want!

It happened in the UK, not the U.S. But I'm sure the Bush administration will use it to highlight the war on terror and how they're protecting our freedom by being in Iraq, which makes no sense at all.

what gets me if your drinking something..how can they consider that explosive?? In that case they should give away non-alcoholic drinks away on the plane
