in the area that they claim expertice in be able to judge others in that same area?

If you think they should, do you also think that an auto mechanic who knows nothing about cars should be able to be paid to work on them?

I didn't mean talent as in being a producer, any idiot can sit around and tell everyone that they suck, I meant as far as him having any singing ability.

Well I would say fixing cars and being a music producer are two completely different things. Being a producer simply involves giving critiques and judging others based on whether or not you think this person has what it takes to make it. Being a mechanic involves the actual work of fixing cars. Producers don't need to be able to sing or dance or whatever. They just need to have an ear for what's good, what will make it in the industry, and what's hot at the time. They can't really be compared to mechanics. I have no problem with Simon Cowell. Sure, sometimes I disagree with some of his opinions on American Idol. But they are only opinions. He has every right to give them. Plus, many times I do agree with him. But since everyone is different and we all have our own personalities, I doubt that there are many people out there who will agree with EVERYTHING one person has to say.

Simon Cowel has worked as an enormously successful record producer making himself and artists working for him millions of dollars. His work on Pop Idol in England made the show a massive success which it just wouldn't have been without him. The success of Pop Idol made it salable in America, where it has become the number one rated show. They were only able to sell the show to the States when he agreed to be on it.

So to claim he has no talent is pretty harsh and unreasonable, since people with 'absolutely no talent' rarely become as famous or as rich as him.

The crux of your point is that he cannot sing. But he has made an exceptional living signing acts and promoting them, making him and the acts rich. The entire point of American Idol is to find people that can sing and turn them into popular recording artists. That is the exact job that Cowel has had his entire life and is one of the best in the business at it. So he is perfectly qualified to do what he does which is why he commands an average salary of $28m per year. You don't have to personally be able to sing, to know good singing when you hear it and to know what will sell.

Oookay. Here it is.

Television shows are filler for adds.. and not the other way around. If you felt good about yourself you wouldn't compensate by striving to work longer and harder to buy all that junk they advertise. Sooo..

Simon Cowell and the likes are there to make you feel aweful. He's doing his job very well. Watch enough 'reality' tv PROGRAMMING and you won't want to sing in the shower. You'll think you need teeth whitening, plastic surgery, washboard abs, a perfect complexion, all the right clothes and an SUV just to get a date ..

thats my two bits :P

I don't think Simon Cowell should be able to jude others. no. I think that the show Bump'N'Grind is good because the judge with the lisp can do what he's judging the dancers for.
It's like that show "What Not To Wear"... they're critisizing people about what they dress like, but they look like total idiots most of the time, and don't really know what they're talking about. haha..thanks for giving me something to rant about :)

Just because you can't sing, it doesn't mean you don't have talent. Simon Cowell is a record producer, and a very successful one at that. He knows talent...he promotes talent. He is more than qualified to judge American Idol, and he does a great job. He tells it like it is.

Simon Cowell is a retard, and I would not let an auto mechanic who know nothing work on my car.

I think there is a difference between having talent and discovering talent.
He obviously has neither skill.
Look at all the American Idol winners!:)
