If money's not an issue maybe you can make a deal with her. You do something to earn money and then you get to buy a new backpack..........or instead of a new blouse you ask for a new backpack. Talk to her and let her know again how much you hate the backpack and ask her what you can do to get a new one. Don't whine or be disrespectful.

My son tried to tell me that he hates his backpack(no holes here either), but I compromised and told him that he would have to either get a new backpack or he could have a new pair of Etnies, not both. Well, he got his Etnies and will deal with his backpack for another year. So if you are willing to deal with your backpack another year, maybe mom will be willing to compromise for something else you have been wanting?

Haahaa, sounds like my husband:o) Anywhoo...why dont you earn some money and buy yourself another... If you want something there is nothing wrong with earning the money to buy it. She has to, right?
then at least you have a backpack so hang in there and save your money:o) Maybe your neighbors can use a babysitter, a lawn mowing or someone to walk their dogs.....(How old are you?)

your going to school not your mom...so i would ask mom can you please buy me another bag and give specific reasons not just i dont like it anymore...for example if the bag is not big enough for you books and supplies or maybe its too big and it hurts your back, maybe you would like the ones with wheels to make it easy to carry other things and tote that one...well you get the point talk to your mom parents like reasons not mom it's ugly i dont want it anymore. because then she'll think of it as wasting money on a new bag for nothing.

try talking to your dad about it. if he's not convinced that you need a new backpack try talking to your mom one more time. if she still says no then bribe her and tell her you'll do dishes for a month or something like that. if that still doesn't do it then try buying a new one buy yourself or live with your old one.

that's the way my mom is..my whole life is practically "on a budget"..but getting a job helps..but b/f i got my job.. i had the same issue..so i talked her into getting one from LLbean.com and its like 39 dollars..and you can get your named monogramed.. i absolutely LOVE it!! so next time buy a bookbag that is classic..one color..get your named monogramed..and then you can add little pins to it and stuff as you go from year to year...Good luckâ¥
