As it turns out, I've already promised that my first MAD creation will be a new species of octopus.
The octopus is already fairly intelligent, instinctively uses tools, has ample manipulators, and no small amount of other natural advantages. But there is one big thing that's holding them back - they have copper-based blood.
Copper just doesn't work as well as iron in attracting and holding oxygen, so the octopus is doomed to always exist in an environment that has quite a bit less air for them than for their neighbors.
But if they DID have iron-based blood, then they might be able to band together and work on projects for longer periods of time. Instead of just building crude homes, they might build whole cities. They might develop weapons for use against even tougher oceanic foes (though many adult octopi can easily take down a shark), and then store their extra food so they could devote more of their time to study and cultural development.
Why... if they had just a little help from the outside, then they could easily grow and dominate the oceans. Then three-quarters of the Earth would be mine... ALL MINE! Mua ha ha!
Er... I mean ours. Yes. That's what I meant.

If I were truly a mad (insane and evil) scientist, I imagine I'd invent something like an air-borne virus that once released would kill off the human race within 24 hours.
Now, if I were a mad (insane and heterosexual) scientist, I would invent a fragrance that would make me utterly irresistable to woman. And I mean ALL woman, from the whole world.
Now, if I were a mad (insane and good) scientist, then I would create the 'get-along' virus. I'd release it - anonymously, cuz I'm not in it for the glory - and just watch as armies across the world laid down their weapons and joined in efforts to make the world better for everyone.

I AM a mad scientist, and my current project is an antigravity transducer. This device looks as if it will be self-powered, and work on anything from a BTTF hoverboard, through a Jetsons spacecar, all the way to a Star Wars class starship. It'll even provide artificial gravity on space stations and deep space missions without centrifugal force.
But I need money.

As a member of the Evil Atheist Conspiracyâ¢, I would develop a nanorobot that would disassemble or erase every holy book in the world, including digital copies. It's nonsense to think that people need religion to be good and moral. But to be truly heinous, people need the rationalization of religion. Let's see mankind start fresh without any superstitions and fairy tales!

I would create a powder that when mixed with regular water becomes wonderfully delicious nutritious foods. Then people in countries where they starve because of the climate would have food and not die.
I know it sounds goody-goody but this issue bothers me a lot.
