Im getting braces and will have them my jr. and sr. year. I know I shouldnt care what people think but what do you think about braces. I have strait teeth so all it will do is be metal on my teeth. Do people hate braces? Im finally happy with the way I look, will that ruin it? Will I still be found attractive with them? Will they make me look younger? Please just tell me what you think about braces? I would really appreciate it.

Also, do you know which ones are least noticeable and the best besides Invisiline.
Maybe lingual, Damon 3 system, white brackets... anything?

Doesn't change my opinion at all.

Don't get white brackets- it just looks like you have something in your teeth.

I got braces halfway through my freshman year and will have them until after I graduate... the first day I got them... I hated them! I thought they made me look terrible but that day I had so many people approach me and tell me that I looked really pretty. The first day I went back to school, everyone wanted to see my new braces. I did very little smiling that day and was really upset with my new look. Then this guy that I really liked saw my braces and told me how pretty I looked. After that, I smiled the rest of the day and had so many positive comments! My advice to you is just to be happy with your new look. I spent half a day hating my new look but after someone told me they didn't look bad, I had a great day. So just get used to your braces cuz you will have a much better time if you just forget about what you think and what other people think... Look around at how many people have braces... you look no different from them so just smile!
As for what kind of braces you get- if you get the traditional metal ones (which I have), when you get them on, pick grey rubber bands, you don't want them to stick out the first time you get them... if you get the clear brackets, you can't drink colored drinks or eat A LOT of things. You have to brush the clear ones a lot and eventually they look really gross. Oh and no matter what you heard, they don't hurt that bad. They are a little sore for a few days, but they are ok. I hope I could help you! Good luck and remember to just smile!

I'm going to answer the first part of the question. I don't have enough knowledge of orthodontia to give you good information about them.

On children, I don't think of braces in any kind of negative or positive way. Because most people who get braces, get them when they are very young, they become simply another feature of childhood, like freckles, pigtails and runny noses.

On adults, however, I do have a different reaction. I tend to think of that person as one who's willing to make a commitment to promote their own dental health. I, personally don't see a slight overbite as problem with appearance. I often think it's cute. But someone who wants to impove there appearance AND fix a problem with their teeth, deserves, at least, a mental thumbs up.

As an upperclass high school student, I would see you as an adult. Yes, the braces may make you look a bit younger, but, you'll get that regardless for the next few years, braces or no.

You say you have straight teeth, then why are you getting braces?

Braces are so and so. If i had to choose i wouldnt of got them but then i would of never had a nice smile. I had the normal braces but the clear ones are pretty cool. From a couple feet way it looks just like a wire.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you...you'll still be attractive..I am 37 years old and I have bad teeth and women still find me attractive sometimes...not because of my looks...because I am a good person. Concentrate on the inner you and don't worry at all about the braces...anyone who knocks you for braces is just shallow and immature.

no braces just help people strighten their teeth so the can look beetter and have better good looking teeth. So it doesnot make a person less if he or she has braces but he has to keep them really clean caus when tiy have braces you should clean your teeth really often four to three times a day and clean your braces really good.

Braces only go on the teeth, that being said, it seems I only see girls with braces. I think braces are fine, it doesn't make the person.

I'm getting Daemon Brackets next month. (They're doing me step by step). I'm getting mine off the summer before my freshman year or during my freshman year. It doesn't matter what people will think. Because your doing this for yourself. And they'll all be jealous once you get them off. Having braces is not such a bad thing.

dont stress so much! i got them last november when i was 26. no one cares and i'm wearing them as an adult. you are getting them when 90% of people do, as a teenager. dont freak out over it, it's not that big of a deal. and i've found that guys think they are cute too so dont worry about how they will feel. they wont make you look younger they wont make you unattractive. be happy you can afford them and even happier that in a couple of years your smile will be awesome!

Braces doesn't change the way I think of a person.

If your teeth already straight, then why are you getting braces?

No, I think they are cute. When my kids had them, I thought they looked more unique.

Don't worry about the way you look. When they come off, you'll be so happy with your new teeth/smile, it will all be worthwhile!!

If your personality shines through, then you'll still be attractive. People who would think otherwise are shallow-minded.
