I read this book when it was first published in the 1970s when I was young and impressionable. Many found it quite disturbing putting it down unfinished. If I remember some parts are not pleasant and some of the things he does I would never consider. It can be very risque, something you would never recommend to your mother.

That said the thought of living life without making serous decisions and being a free spirit to follow whims etc was appealing to an impressionable young man.

It has the effect of opening my eyes to consider every aspect of life from both sides and believe that, whatever anyone thinks, there is always a different point of view or alternate action.

Many people thought is was rubbish. However, give it a try, don't take it too literally, don't be too offended by some of the content and it may change your outlook on life!

Yes. His ideas are worth a try too. But at the end of the day we need to make a choice if we want to follow a goal. It is kind of liberating though to realise that actually you can let yourself get blown by the wind and have a great life.

Having heard of this book previously I feel it is a coincidence that you should ask this question right now.
From Chookies comments above, I will definitely read it now.

I thought it was a great piece of fictional writing.
Though it had some less than desirable thoughts
