If you were outside or at a shopping area, and saw someone, such as a parent or guardian, abuse their child, then would you 'actually' report it (to someone)?

It depends on how they are abusing the child or if they are the real parents. If they are not the real parents and they are abusing the child badly then they shouldn't be parents anymore. If they are real parents, I'd try to do anything to drug their attention and bring them to sense about what they are doing. And to do that I might try to have some government professionals help.

I actually did just a few months ago. A car was stopped in the road and everyone was out. I thought maybe there was a bee inside or something. Then I saw the husband slam the wife's head into the side of the car, and she screamed "someone call the police". As soon as she yelled, he grabbed a young child about 4 or 5 and started down the road. So, I called 911. I was very shaken by the whole experience. I hope the wife doesn't stay with him and her and the children have to endure more. But that seems to be the case sometimes.

I understand a swat or yell from time to time (been there, done that); but if I actually saw what I would consider to be over the line, I'd report them. An immediate phone call or a report from home with a license plate number.
I'd have to say sometimes I've gotten so upset at my kids where I'd put them in the car and start screaming, I remember thinking to my self, this must look terrible to people. So realistically it'd have to be pretty bad for me to report a complete stranger over a glance at the mall or a parking lot.

WHAT do you consider abuse? If the kid (as an example) got caught shop lifting and the parent once outside or even inside gave the kid a butt beating, NO THE kid has it coming. NOW if (SAME SITUATION) the parent was beating the kid badly, like knocking him to the ground with a punch or worse YES this is abuse and I not only would report it, BUT would most likely step in. BUT just because a parent hits a kid DOES NOT constitute abuse.

I have, followed the parent and child, got a license plate number, and reported the abuse immediately, from a phone booth, didn't even wait to get home. The abuse was blatant, the parent obviously mentally ill, and I was deeply disturbed, shaking as I dialed the phone. I have never regretted it though, only wished I could know what happened to the little boy. If we don't stand up for children, who will?

If the abuse was a crime then I would like to think I would do the right thing and report it. If the abuse was not criminal but still wrong, ie emotional abuse, overreactive shouting etc, I would like to think I would confront the person myself to let them and the child know that that behaviour is wrong. I say 'would like to think' because the hypothetical world and the real world can be different and there may be other factors involved

If I witnessed it, and it was actually abuse, yes I would report it because that could save that child from alot of pain, if something was to actually be done about it, and abusing a child, or anyone for that matter is wrong.

Sadly it would sicken me...but the way we are today most people just keep walking and do nothing. Because we dont know the person and they will most likely not be there when and if the police came i would not report it. However, I would go up to them and say something...let them know that I thought what they were doing was wrong and ask the child if he was okay.

Yes, with my cell phone, right there on the spot.

I might also get a security guard from the store/mall to help me detain the individual until the police could arrive. I would also hope that the shopping area security cameras caught it on tape.

It really depends on the situation. If it were actual abuse, not just spanking a kid that needed it, then I probably would. As long as I knew the persons name and all. It really depends on their attentions. If they're just hitting the kid to hit the kid. Then, Yeah, Report it. If they're just spanking someone( NOT hard) for runnning off, then I would just recomend that they find a different way to punish they're kid, but I wouldn't make everyone's lives harder by reporting it.
