I am amazed at how many here have taken offence at the simple (and true) statement that men are statistically stronger than women after puberty. This is due to a simple reason- testosterone. Men have it in abundance, women don't.

Comparing like for like, men are stronger and faster. The fact that some women are stronger than some men does not change this fact. If women want to be as muscular as men, they have to take testosterone or have a naturally higher than normal amount. Women body builders often use testosterone and gain secondary male sexual attributes including a heavier jaw, a deeper voice and an enlarged clitoris.

If women were as strong as men, they would be able to compete on equal footing on a like-for-like basis in all major competitive strength-based disciplines and this obviously isn't the case.

To take offense at this and to call it sexist is however odd. Sexual differences and pointing them out is not in itself a sexist statement, it's simply a fact. Any inferences you make from this may be considered sexist though.

Stating that men are stronger than women is as sexist as saying that women have bigger breasts than men after puberty. We all know women with no breasts and men with a fair pair, but it doesn't make it normal for men and women to share equal opportunity breasts.

In fact, men can gain breasts by the reversal of the women bodybuilders, by taking female hormones. As well as enlarging breasts, other bits can shrivel though!

Increased strength though is not necessarily the full story. The increased body fat ratio of women is said to give them a higher survival rate in adverse conditions and makes them better suited to ultra distance walking and running and long distance swimming in which it is projected that women will ultimately beat men.

Woman are muscularly weaker than men. Men have denser muscle mass. This allows for greater tension, and thus greater force. However, for this reason, women are more flexible. The great tension of a man's muscle hinders his flexibility.

It is politically incorrect to emphasize the differences between the sexes, however. I, though, am not politically correct. The truth is the truth, whether accepted or not.

Generally, men are built to have more strength than women as traiditonally they were the hunters and protectors of the tribe/famil. Saying that, I do know a few females who can beat many men in the strength department so its not always the case!

opening vacuum sealed jars and such makes someone break a few droplets of sweat.that is why men have more bad body odor in the armpits than women.never let your woman open a jar if you don't want her to have smelly armpit sweat that wreaks much havoc towards the nostril.women aren't as weak as they seem & can open jars themselves but choose to let men do that task for this very reason.

I strongly beg to differ. It is mostly a cultural thing in the US that men are supposed to be dead-butch and women frail like a doily floating in a jar of White Diamonds. For instance, go to Europe and you will probably see a lot less sexual dimorphism (or even the South-Western US!). Cheech said it best, "Ever try arguing with a Dutch *****? First, you have to look up to them. She's been cycling all day. You know she can kick ***."

Generally yes. But that's not an always. The easiest way is to stop looking at "women" and "men" and actually evaluate the individual.

The correct answer is yes, according to all research. That doesn't mean, however, that ALL men are stronger than ALL women; it just means tat on average, they are stronger and faster as a gender.
