7/8 is one size, and 9/10 is one size. So, if you lost a 9/10 and a 7/8, then you lost 2 dress sizes. The odd numbers are junior sizes and the even numbers are misses sizes, but they are about the same. The only difference I can discern between them is that the junior sizes are slimmer in their width. That's why after having children, a lot of women have to switch to misses sizes, even if they weigh the same and are the same size as before.

Having gone from a size 14 to a size 8 now i count that as 3 sizes because women's clothing go up in increments of 2. ie. size 0, 2, 4, 6 etc... so you would count down to the last size. for juniors their sizes or odd sizes 1, 3, 5, 7 etc same thing you would count down to the previous size. Now there are clothes that size like this 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 that is showing both women's and juniors size either one can wear it. if your in that are you still count down to the previous size. ie. if you 9/10 and now you wear a 7/8 you only went down 1 dress size. i hope that was helpful i worked in dept stores ie. dillards, hot topic, ross in the past so i'm aware of different sizes.
